Research Titles for Listening: Collective research and presentation

This colloquium session is an improvisation. We invite you all to contribute to a collective thinking workshop, bringing some of the “Research Article Titles for Listening” presented at the colloquium this Spring to life.

You can find all of the titles at the link below, but we will not limit ourselves to this selection. During the session, we will randomly select a series of titles and invite groups of 3-4 participants to discuss, in breakout rooms, how this research indeed could be conducted and what interesting results and products it might lead to.

At the heart of the session is an interest in the imaginary and speculative potential of listening and sonic practices. Listening can attend not only to what is already there, but also to what is absent, unheard, or yet to come. By imagining research that does not yet exist, we want to explore how listening might open up new questions, methods, relations, and possible futures.

In a final plenary session, each group will present their ideas on how to bring their chosen research title to life. Join us and let your imagination run wild! Let us create possible sonic futures and draft completely impossible or perfectly possible sonic scenarios. And, maybe, some of the research thinking groups will indeed lead to new research endeavours?
