Applications for external funding 

For researchers employed at IKK

Overall process

If you wish to apply for funding for a research project to be hosted at IKK, you must use the Faculty of Humanities Research Funding South form for expressions of interest.

Research Funding Søndre has four fixed annual deadlines for recurring calls: 1 February, 1 June, 1 October, and 1 December. Deadline reminders are announced via IKK Nyt and HUMnyt.

Local process for employees at IKK

To enable the department management to better assess project proposals and requests, and their anchoring at IKK, you must, two weeks before the deadline for submitting the expression of interest to Research Funding South, initiate a dialogue with the department’s research advisor about your project. During this dialogue, aspects related to employment, buy-out (teaching relief), project size, collaborations, timing, and other elements will be clarified. Send an email including project title, your idea, proposed project period, funding instrument, number of project participants and/or collaborators to ikk-forsk@hum.ku.dk. Your enquiry must be submitted no later than two weeks before the expression of interest deadline, i.e.:

• 15 January (for calls with deadlines from March to August)
• 15 May (for calls with deadlines from August to November)
• 15 September (for calls with deadlines from November to January)
• 15 November (for calls with deadlines from February to March)

Note: For applications outside of the fixed calls, the expression of interest must be submitted to Research Funding South via the form no later than 8 weeks before the foundation’s deadline. These expressions of interest are then forwarded from Research Funding South to the department management for approval.

Process for external researchers

If you are not already employed at IKK but wish to apply for affiliation (hosting) in connection with an application for external funding, you must do the following well in advance of the fixed deadlines:

1. Identify relevant research environments at the institute for your project
2. Send your CV and publication list, a project description of max. 1 page including project title, project idea, project period, funding instrument, project organization (including number of participants), any collaborators, your plans for how the project can be anchored and integrated into IKK’s research clusters

Send your email to the department research advisor at: ikk-forsk@hum.ku.dk by the deadlines below. The department management will then assess your request.

• 15 January (for calls with deadlines from March to August)
• 15 May (for calls with deadlines from August to November)
• 15 September (for calls with deadlines from November to January)
• 15 November (for calls with deadlines from February to March)
