Ars Acustica Meeting 2025
Each year, the Ars Acustica group — comprising all interested participants from the 113 EBU organisations in 56 countries — meets to discuss recent radio art productions and project proposals. They share news about media art activities and events in various countries, as well as co-productions between broadcasting corporations.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is the world’s foremost alliance of public service media, representing over a hundred organisations worldwide. The EBU's Ars Acustica group is a forum set up to discuss, promote and produce radio and sound art within the EBU.
The Ars Acustica group is best known for two events: "Art's Birthday" and the "Prix Palma Ars Acustica": The idea for "Art's Birthday" was first suggested by the Fluxus artist Robert Filliou in 1963. It is celebrated by people all over the world on 17 January every year. On this date, the Ars Acustica group also honours "Art's Birthday" by broadcasting on several EBU radio stations every year. Since 2013, the community has awarded the "Prix Palma Ars Acustica" to a sound art piece submitted by an EBU radio organisation.
The EBU Ars Acustica group, which is meeting in Copenhagen on 3 June, is open to radio producers and all other specialists in this field, including practitioners, scholars, critics and aficionados.
