The chapter deals with material images shot on Svalbard in the 1960s, particularly the analogue film Naturrikdom och Kullgrubedrift på 78N (Nature and Coal mining at 78N), shot by Herta Grøndal. It analyzes the origins, production and circulation of Naturrikdom in order to unearth past Svalbard imaginaries as well as potential creative interplay with collective imaginaries of Svalbard futures in the present.
