In the seemingly endless circle of demolition and illegal rebuilding hand-made mud bricks produced from the soil of contested territory become an act of resistance. In June 2011, the Palestinian village Fasayel encountered the Israeli military’s demolition of 21 of the village’s built structures. In an attempt to deal with the current state of emergency through spatial and concrete means, the use of mud bricks provides not merely a building material but also implies political strands in a resistance of being displaced.
