Dr. Marsha Meskimmon, new Novo Nordisk Foundation Visiting Professor of Art & Art History

The Department of Arts and Cultural Studies is delighted to host Dr. Marsha Meskimmon as Novo Nordisk Foundation Visiting Professor of Art & Art History (2025-2026).

Dr. Meskimmon is an Emeritus Professor of Transnational Art and Feminism at Loughborough University and an internationally esteemed scholar with outstanding merits whose publications and collegial generosity in academic dialogues and exchange has had a huge impact on scholars and students from around the world. She has contributed significantly to changing the way studies in art history and visual culture are conducted – especially by developing and combining new transnational feminist, transcultural, ecocritical and decolonising approaches to studying art that have helped art historians and artists venture into new interdisciplinary territories while remaining committed to the study and practice of art. The impact of her seminal book Contemporary Art and the Cosmopolitan Imagination (2011) and her ground-breaking trilogy Transnational Feminisms and the Arts: A Trilogy (vol. 1 2020, vol. 2 2023, vol. 3 forthcoming) has been profound and broad.

Please join us for Dr. Meskimmon’s inaugural lecture Friday September 12th at 14:15-16:00 in Auditorium 23.0.49: You Say You Want a Revolution? Building a kaleidoscopic chorus against, without and beyond violence.
