Wolfgang Ernst’s research foci include media archaeology as method, theory of technical storage, technologies of cultural transmission, micro-temporal media aesthetics (chronopoiesis), critique of history as master discourse of cultural and technological time, and sound analysis from a media-epistemological point of view (time objects and time signals).
Recent books in English by Wolfgang Ernst:
- Digital Memory and the Archive, edited and with an introduction by Jussi Parikka (University of Minnesota Press)
- Sonic Time Machines. Explicit Sound, Sirenic Voices and Implicit Sonicity in Terms of Media Knowledge (Amsterdam University Press).
The subsequent workshop with Ernst takes place in the same room at 11:00 - 13:00 and will include discussions on topics like media archaeology, digital humanities, algorithmic cultures, uncertain archives, and media art.
Please contact Ulrik Ekman or Bjarki Valtysson for further information.
We look very much forward to seeing you for a rich set of exchanges.
