Against Criticism: Notes on Decipherment and the Force of Art

Talk by Zakiyyah Iman Jackson, followed by a conversation with Denise Ferreira da Silva.

The lecture is part of the series Fleshing Out the Image, an artistic project that I am currently co-curating with colleagues from Porto. Fleshing Out the Image is a multidisciplinary programme that explores the biopolitics of image-making and the sensorial and political materiality of visual and sonic technologies. The project brings into dialogue phenomenological reflections on embodiment and moving image culture with conceptualizations of enfleshment as not only a mode of power and capture, but also of possibilities for sensual and political refusal.

All talks in the series are pre-recorded and made available for viewing at www.fleshingouttheimage.com on the date announced. No need to register, just tune in :)
