Site, Material, and Medium in Socially Engaged Art

CCCA workshop, March 13-14, Aarhus University

CCCA (Collaboration and Community-Building in Contemporary Art) is an international research network that looks at current global trends for collaboration and community building in contemporary art. With the theme of “Site, Material, and Medium in Socially Engaged Art” we wish to focus on how specific places, various forms of materiality, or different types of mediation contribute to the human interaction and social relations that occur when art projects trigger new types of activities in local communities.

We welcome theoretical and/or case-based presentations related to site, material, and/or medium in the context of collaboration and community-based art practices anywhere in the world. If you would like to join the workshop with a 15-minute presentation, you can send a brief abstract and a short biographical statement to Gunhild Borggreen, gunhild@hum.ku.dk, by February 18th. You are also welcome to join the workshop without a presentation.

Practical matter

The CCCA workshop will take place at Aarhus University on March 13-14, 2019. Specific place will be announced soon. Anyone can join – membership of CCCA or participation in earlier CCCA workshops not necessary.
