Politics: Orientations and Possibilities of the Present

‘Politics' is a substantial part of IKK's framework and the material we analyze. Aesthetics, arts, and culture – culture in society, in brief – is more often than not approached by the department's faculty with some sort of political engagement in mind. We think of our research and teaching as always related to certain interests and having to do with different kinds of responsibility to a discipline, to science, to a broader public sphere or to specific groups.

The research and teaching at IKK is characterised by political reflection or thinking politics in different ways. Both as a question of the politics of the objects we analyse, but also as the politics we engage in as academics and researchers. The aim of the seminar is to stage a discussion of the different ways we ‘do' politics.
